Coursework Completion

① Registration: Minimum 4 semesters, maximum 12 semesters.
② Credits: Minimum 36 credits (maximum 12 credits per semester).
③ Grades: Minimum GPA of 3.0.

 

 

Qualifying Exam (Conducted once every semester)

① Eligibility: Registered for at least 3 semesters, earned at least 18 credits.
② Exam Subjects:
    – English Exam: TEPS (298 points or higher) or TOEFL (IBT 79 points or higher) can be substituted for the English Exam
      ※ Scores submitted upon admission can be used.
    – Comprehensive Exam: Must score 70 or above (out of 100).

 

 

Dissertation

Eligibility for Dissertation

① Must have met the coursework completion requirements and passed the qualifying exam by the end of the relevant semester.

② Must be currently registered as a graduate research student if already completed coursework.

③ Must be within the thesis submission deadline (6 years after coursework completion, with a possible 2-year extension).

④ Must obtain approval from at least 2/3 of the dissertation advisory committee members in the thesis proposal presentation held the semester before the           dissertation.

⑤ Must have at least one first-author SCI(E) paper accepted or published, or two or more first-author papers presented at conferences recognized by the               Graduate School Executive Committee before the final oral defense.

     (By the preliminary review application deadline, the candidate must have at least one SCI(E)-level paper accepted or published, or a conference paper                  recognized by the Graduate School Steering Committee, of which he/she is the first author)

Dissertation Schedules: announced separately each semester.

Dissertation Defense: public thesis presentation (including at least 2 preliminary reviews) and oral defense.

Passing Criteria: Approval from at least 4/5 of the Dissertation Advisory Committee and a score of 70 or above (out of 100) in the oral defense.

 

 

Degree Conferment

Candidates who completed the coursework, passed the qualifying exam, successfully defended their dissertation, and are granted approval from the Graduate School Executive Committee may receive their degrees at the graduation ceremony.
